The Voyah Free+ is the crossover that takes everything good about the original Free and adds a heavy dose of Huawei technology. A smoother front end, a roof‑mounted LiDAR sensor, and a completely overhauled cabin running Harmony OS 5 make this one of the most interesting electric crossovers to come out of China this year.

Exterior design: cleaner, more tech‑focused

The Free+ gets a refreshed exterior with a closed front hood and a simplified bumper. The grille is gone – replaced by a smooth, almost EV‑like face. New 21‑inch wheels fill the arches nicely, and the retractable door handles sit flush with the body to cut air resistance. The rear light bar stretches across the full width of the car, and there is an interactive lighting element between the front headlights. Some Chinese car enthusiasts say the new design is less aggressive than the previous model, but the overall look is more mature and premium.

Dimensions: 4915 mm long, 1960 mm wide, 1660 mm high, with a 2960 mm wheelbase. That puts it squarely against rivals like the Li Auto L6, Wey 05, and Denza N7 – all spacious, tech‑heavy crossovers.

Interior and technology: Harmony OS takes over

Inside, the Free+ is a different beast. The centrepiece is a 15.6‑inch touchscreen running Huawei's Harmony OS 5 – the same system found in Aito and Luxeed models. It is responsive, clean, and deeply integrated with Huawei's ecosystem. A small LCD instrument cluster sits behind the D‑shaped steering wheel, and the gear selector is mounted on a stalk behind it.

The standout feature is the 29‑inch augmented reality head‑up display (AR‑HUD) from Huawei. It projects navigation, speed, and driver assistance graphics onto the windshield in a way that feels genuinely futuristic. Other goodies include dual wireless phone chargers, a voice assistant that actually works, and a 22‑speaker Voyah Sound audio system.

Comfort is taken seriously. There is a 7‑litre cooled and heated storage box, front seats with eight‑point massage, second‑row seats that recline up to 27 degrees, tri‑zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof that covers 1.78 square metres. The cabin feels airy and premium, without being overly flashy.

Driver assistance: Huawei ADS 4

The Free+ uses Huawei's ADS 4 driver assistance system, which supports automatic parking, slope recognition, hill ascent and descent, and cornering assistance. The roof‑mounted LiDAR sensor feeds real‑time data to the system, making highway driving and city crawling much less stressful. It is not fully autonomous, but it is among the more capable Level 2+ systems available in a crossover at this level.

Powertrain and performance: EREV and BEV options

The Voyah Free+ comes in two flavours:

  • EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle): A 1.5‑litre petrol engine (95 kW / 127 hp) that acts as a generator, paired with a rear electric motor producing 215 kW (288 hp).
  • BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle): Two battery options – 78.8 kWh and 81.6 kWh – offering between 600 and 650 km of range under CLTC standards.

A 4WD version adds a front electric motor (135 kW / 181 hp), bringing total system power to 350 kW (469 hp). Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.9 seconds. The car also gets four‑piston brakes, a full aluminium body, double‑wishbone front suspension, and an adjustable air suspension that can raise the vehicle by up to 100 mm when you need extra ground clearance.

Market competition

The Voyah Free+ goes up against a crowded field of electric and hybrid crossovers in China, including the Li Auto L6, Wey 05, Denza N7, Avatr 07, and Lynk & Co 08. What sets the Free+ apart is the deep integration of Huawei technology – the AR‑HUD, ADS 4, and Harmony OS ecosystem are not easy to find elsewhere at this price point. The combination of large size, advanced driver assistance, and a well‑executed interior makes it a strong contender.

🎙️ Voyah Live perspective

The Free+ is a clear signal that Voyah is doubling down on tech partnerships. Huawei's influence is everywhere, from the AR‑HUD to the LiDAR suite. For current Voyah owners, this is a preview of what future software updates might bring – better voice control, smarter navigation, and deeper integration with your phone. If you want to get a taste of that connected experience today, our free Voyah Live AI assistant brings voice commands, map sharing, and remote features to your existing Voyah. No hardware swap required.

First impressions

The Voyah Free+ is not a revolution, but it is a very solid evolution. The exterior refresh cleans up the lines, the interior finally gets the screen and software it deserved, and the Huawei driver assistance system adds real value. The pre‑order numbers – over 5,000 in the first hour – suggest the market agrees. If you are shopping for a tech‑forward electric crossover and you do not want a Tesla or a Nio, the Free+ deserves a spot on your shortlist.
